Obit For Thomas W. Brown
Headline THOS BROWN PASSES AWAY
Text Thos. Brown, an old time and respected citizen of this county, died at his home in Butterfield, last Saturday night, following an illness extending over the past two years.

He was born at Cedar Spring Indiana in 1853, and came to the county 40 years ago and located in the Pasley community. Later he moved to Cassville and served the city as marshal and made a splendid officer.

He was married twice and is the father of 14 children, seven children being born to each marriage. He is survived by his second wife, two daughter?s Mrs. Chas Hawk and Mrs. Carl Sullivan of Cassville, and one son, George Brown, also of this city, and four daughters of the second marriage.

He was an honest hard working man and had many friends in this section.

Funeral services were conducted by Rev. W. T. Ward of Cassville, at the family home. Sunday afternoon, after which the remains were laid to rest in Oak Hill Cemetery.

Research Note: Ira Nickle thinks that the number of children listed in the Thomas W. Brown obit is wrong.
He had a total of 7 children from both marriages, Ida, Clara and George from the first marriage and Blanche, Nadine, Grace, Maxine from the second. Actually there were 8 but Lester Logan Brown only lived from March 1, 1915 to December 24, 1916.
