Headline | COUNTY LOSES ANOTHER ONE OF ITS VERY BEST CITZENS |
Text | This county lost another one of its very best citizens, last Sunday, when Mrs. Phoebe Elizabeth Brock died at her home near this city at the age of 69 years, 9 months and 9 days. She had been sick several years. Mrs. Brock was born June 14, 1859 in Greene county, Mo., and with her parents moved to this county when a small child and since that time had resided continuously in this section.
In the year 1880 she was married to Isaac Brock, a well known and prominent farmer residing near this city. Ten children were born to this marriage, one of which died in infancy and the other at the age of 25 years. The surviving children are: Miss Sophia Brock at home, Mrs. R.L. Thomas, Mrs. Geo. England, Mrs. Loren Hodge, Albert, Ollie and Floyd Brock, all living near Cassville. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Geo Earle of near Cassville and Mrs. Ambrose Towler of Mano and one brother J.H. Aldridge of Mano. The deceased professed religion at the age of 17 years and has been a consistent member of the Mr. Olive Baptist church. She was greatly loved by all who knew her and was a kind and loving wife and mother. She bore her extended illness with patience and will be sadly missed by her many relative and friends. Impressive funeral services were conducted at the family home Tuesday afternoon by Rev. Chas Vanzandt of Exeter, after which the remains were laid to rest in the Horner cemetery. A quartette composed of Mrs. John Ray, Mrs. Glen Pearl and Chas Willis and Clint Blythe rendered music at the services. Many beautiful floral emblems were received by the family. The Democrat joins in extending sympathy to the grief-stricken relatives of this splendid woman. |
