Text | Mrs. Matidla M. Martin, widow of the late J. W. Brattin, better known as "Uncle Jack", died Monday night at the residence of her son, the Rev. J. T. Brattin, about 1 3/4 miles south of town, of general debility, aged 76 years, 1 month and 24 days. She was born Jan. 18, 1828, near Roseville, Ark. and was a daughter of the Rev. Martin, a Baptist minister.
She was married to her husband at the residence of Wm. Pogue on Shoal creek, now known as the Jas. Swindle farm. The funeral services were held at the Baptist church in Exeter, Wednesday after which the remains were conveyed to the Packwood cemetery and there interred to await the blessed resurrection.
