Text | Mrs. Marie Bowen, 64, Cassville, died at 6:30 a.m. Wednesday at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield where she had been a patient after being injured in a car-pedestrian accident at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday in Cassville. According to Cassville Police Chief, Ray Burnette, Mrs. Bowen was crossing a street, apparently in a crosswalk, when she was struck by a car driven by Mrs. Mary Norwood, Cassville. Mrs. Norwood, Burnette said, was making a left turn when the accident occurred at Seventh and Main Streets. Mrs. Bowen was born July 8, 1916 at Golden. She had lived in Cassville for the past 44 years. She was a clerk for Clothesline Department Store at Cassville and a member of the Cassville First Baptist Church. Surviving are her husband, Rual Bowen, whom she married Sept 6, 1936, at Golden: a son Don Bowen, Cassville: a daughter, Mrs. Janice Miller, Bowling Green; a brother, Bill Hardwick, Purdy: a sister, Mrs. Hazel Shrum, Monett; and four grandchildren. Services were held at 2 p.m. Friday at Williamson Chapel, Cassville. The Rev. Jim Walker officiated. Burial was in Horner Cemetery, east of Cassville.
