Text | Mrs. A. Bounous, loved and highly esteemed citizen of south of Monett died at her home at 5 o’clock Friday evening, May 31, after an illness of eight years. Four years ago it was found necessary to take off a limb in order to lengthen her life. Since that time she had been in a serious condition. She was 66 years old. The funeral was held Sunday afternoon at the Waldensian church, Burial was made in the Waldensian cemetery under direction of Callaway’s undertakers. The American Legion Auxiliary had charge of the grave. Mrs. Bounous was the daughter of David and Mary Lautaret and was born in Uruguay, South American. January 14, 1863. The family immigrated to the United States in 1875 and settled in the Waldensian colony south of the present site of Monett. She was married in 1890 to A. Bounous and they continued to make their home in the same neighborhood. The husband and seven children are Mrs. Naomi Malan of Wentworth; Joel D. Bounous of Springfield; Reuben D. Bounous, Phil Bounous, Arthur Bounous and Mrs. Martha Miller of Monett and Mrs. Jane Harrell of Urbana. Besides her husband and children she leaves one brother, Dan Lautaret of Monett. A brother, Steve Lautartet, died three years ago. Mrs. Bounous was a good Christian woman and model wife and mother. She was a member of the New Site Baptist Church – Monett Times.
