| Text | Howard D. Bounous, 62, of Verona, died at 5 p.m. May 7 at Aurora Community Hospital following a sudden illness. Mr. Bounous was born July 4, 1936, in Monett, the son of Aurell and Dollie Hartness Bounous. He was a lifetime resident of Verona, a farmer, and served as Barry County clerk for eight years. He was a Navy veteran of the Korean conflict. He was a member of Hobbs-Anderson Post 91 Monett American Legion, Monett Masonic Lodge 129, Scottish Rite Body in Joplin, and Abou Ben Adhem Shrine in Springfield. He was also a Republican committeeman of Spring River. Graveside services will be 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, May 11, at Waldensian Cemetery near Monett with Rev. Wade Ditty officiating under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home of Monett. |
