Text | Died, at her home in this place, Feb. 4, at 2:30 o'clock, Mrs. John Boren, of smallpox. There have been about one hundred cases of small pox in and around Rocky and this is the first death. Mrs. Boren was quite sick from the first, the disease early assuming the hemorrhagic form. She lived one week only after contracting it. At present there are no new cases but the excitement is great. The mail has not been allowed to go from Rocky to Pierce for some time and the postmaster has been sending by way of Pineville. There is now strong tale of shutting off from Pineville also. Research Notes: Ruth was born 12 Mar. 1870 in Wayne, Barry County and died 4 Feb. 1900. Her parents are George W. and Harried Erwin. She married John Wardlaw Boren 23 Dec. 1888 at the home of her parents. |
