| Text | Mildred I. Blankenship, 89, of Monett, died at 11:35 p.m. December 4 at Lacoba Nursing Home in Monett following a long illness. Mrs. Blankenship was born January 11, 1910, in Purdy, the daughter of Fred and Dove (Terry) Edwards. She was a longtime resident of the Monett and Purdy areas, a teacher in the Arnhart School, a partner in the Blankenship and Mourglia Furniture Store in Monett, a Purdy High School and Monett Junior College graduate, and a member of the First Baptist Church in Monett. She married Donald Blankenship on September 27, 1936, in Purdy, and he preceded her in death November 3, 1980. Survivors include one brother, one sister, and several nieces and nephews in the area. She was preceded in death by four brothers, Ross, Joe, Maurice, and Bert Edwards. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, December 8, at Monett IOOF Cemetery with Dr. Michael Block officiating under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home of Monett. No visitation is planned. Friends may call at the funeral home after 10 a.m. tomorrow, December 7. Memorials may be made to the church or the American Cancer Society. |
