Text | William O. Black, 72, well know and respected lifelong resident of Barry County, passed away at the Nevada Hospital Thursday where he had been a patient since January.
Mr. Black was a son of pioneer parents and was born and reared in Pleasant ridge township where he grew to manhood. When a young man he was united in marriage to Lola Stark who precede him in death. They had no children. After Mrs. Black's death he disposed of his business in Cassville and retired to a farm between Monett and Pierce City where he lived until his health failed. He was a resident of Cassville for 25 years and was engaged in the grocery business for 20 years. Mr. Black was a member of the Baptist Church and Masonic lodge of Cassville. Funeral services were held at the Pleasant Ridge Church Sunday afternoon by the Rev. Roy Keith with services at the grave by the Masons. Burial was in the Washburn Prairie Cemetery. Surviving are three brothers and a sister. They are: Robert Black of Wetumka, Okla; Aaron and Homer Black of Verona and Mrs. Nora Batesell of Wichita. Kan. Deceased: William O.
