Text | Robert M. Black died at his home northeast of Cassville Wednesday, June 8, 1910, of a complication of troubles, aged 76 years "Uncle Robert" as he was familiarly called, had been in remarkably good health for a man his age. He was often spoken of as one of the strongest old men in the county, continuing to do his own work. Robert Black had been a citizen of the county since 1852, coming here when a young man from Hamilton County, TN, where he was born and reared. He was thus another of the county's pioneers who has answered the call to the great unknown. He leaves a wife, two daughters, Mrs. Thomas Robberson, and Miss Ida Black. Two brothers, W. C., J. M., Taylor. Two sisters, Mrs. Eliza Prentiss of Garland, OK, and Mrs. Houston Bradley of near Cassville. Funeral services were conducted Friday morning at the Pilant Cemetery north of town by Rev. J.W. Ennes where his remains were laid to rest. Research Note: abt 1834 -1910 |
