Text | A Washburn man was killed in a car-truck accident at the junction of U. S. highways 81 and 20, three miles west of Randolph, Neb., at 4’o’clock Friday afternoon. The victim was Raymond Black, 72. He was the driver of the car. Herbert Rose, 46, Boise, Idaho, driver of the truck loaded with processed hams. The accident occurred when the two vehicles collided at the junction of the two highways, according to the state safety patrol. The tuck received about $11,000 worth of damage in the collision, officers said. Mr. Black was a lifelong resident of Washburn and had been employed as a construction worker. He was born August 8, 1894 in Washburn. He wife, Allie, died last February 18. Survivors include a brother. Howard Black, Hingham, Mass.; and four sisters. Funeral services were held today, Wednesday at 2 o’clock at the Culver Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Charles Vanzandt. Burial was in the Washburn Prairie Cemetery under direction of Culver’s.
