Text | The entire community of Fairview and vicinity was terribly shocked Tuesday morning when the telephone began telling the news of the fatal accident, which cost the life of little Fern Berry who was visiting his aunt in Joplin. He and two little cousins were playing on the lawn in the fullest of glee when Fern stepped too far out into the street and was struck by a passing car. Fern was rushed to the hospital, but physicians were unable to save his life. He lived only half an hour after the accident, never regaining consciousness. Emeral Fern Berry was born July 29, 1913 and passed away Oct. 2, 1923 at the age of 10 years, 2 months and 4 days. He leaves a father, mother, two brothers, two sisters and a number of other relatives and friends to mourn his departure. Funeral services were held at the M. P. Church Thursday at 3:00 o'clock. A large crowd followed the little form to Dice cemetery where the remains were interred. |
