Text | Kenneth Morgan Beeson, 91, of Cassville, passed away on Thursday, June 20th, in his home, while being lovingly cared for by his daughter. He was born Aug. 3, 1921 in Cassville, the son of the late Roy and Josephine (Morgan) Beeson.
The eldest son of 14 children, Kenneth grew up in the Mineral Springs area, attending the Forest Grove School District and Mineral Springs Baptist Church. He left home to serve in the CCC from Dec. of 1939-1940. In January of 1941, he moved to Tulsa, Okla., where he began his career as a machinist. On Sept. 20, 1941, he was united in marriage to Pearl (Wode) Beeson. She preceded him in death on Jan. 13, 1999. Together they had three children: the late Phyllis B. Barbash; Jo Ellen Fielding, of Cassville; and Michael Beeson, of Puerto Rico. He joined the U.S. Army in Aug. of 1943, and served his country during World War II, in the Philippines and New Guinea. He left the South Pacific a decorated soldier and returned home to Tulsa in 1945. He continued working as a tool and die maker at various companies in the Tulsa area until 1973 when he and Pearl returned to Mineral Springs. There he bought the family farm from his parents’ estate and raised feeder pigs until 1984. He and Pearl moved to town (Cassville) in 1994. He was a member of First Baptist Church of Cassville since 1973, and attended regularly until just before his death. He surrendered his life to Jesus Christ in 1946 and lived as a Godly example to his family. Kenneth was preceded in death by his parents, Roy and Josephine; his wife, Pearl; his daughter, Phyllis; and six siblings, Christine Bush, Nadine Berkley, Erma Buck, Leora Batten, Cleo Beeson and Emery Beeson. He is survived by five brothers, Wayne Beeson, of Hobb, New Mexico, Owen Beeson, of Exeter, Don Beeson, of Cassville, Mitchell Beeson, of Monett, Charles "Chuck" Beeson, of Coweta, Oklahoma; and two sisters, Maxine Cooper, of Irving, Texas, and Mildred Queen, of Sperry, Oklahoma. Funeral services will be held Monday, June 24th, at 10:00 a.m. at the First Baptist Church in Cassville, under the direction of White Funeral Home. Burial will follow at Mineral Springs Cemetery with full military honors. The family will receive friends from 2-4 p.m. on Sunday, June 23rd, at White Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to First Baptist Church of Cassville or the Barry/Lawrence Library. |
