Text | Died, Sunday, Dec 1, 1895, at 2:00 o'clock, a. m. Mrs. S. L. Bayless, age 68 years, 9 months, and 29 days. Sarah Louisa Brunner was born February 2, 1827 in Green County, Tenn., where she grew to womanhood and married Daniel D. Bayless of Washington County in 1853 they moved to Benton County, Ark., and five years later came to this county settling near Seligman, where they resided until 1888, when they moved to Cassville; there were born to them eight children, of whom W. K. and John M. Bayless and Mrs. M. C. Allen of Cassville, and James M. Bayless of Corsicana, survive her. At the time of her marriage Mrs. Bayless was a member of the Methodist Church her people being of that domination. Her brother John H. Brunner, now retired, was for many years presiding elder. Relinquishing that he served a long time as president of Hiawassee College, an institution under the Holston Conference. The two kept up a close correspondence for 45 years. After coming west she joined the Baptist Church, in which faith she died. Mrs. Bayless was a domestic nature, and well and extensively read, loved home and was an earnest advocate of the right good morals and true Christian life. Funeral service were conducted Sunday night at the Baptist Church by Eld. Amacker and Monday the remains were laid to rest in the Roller Cemetery, north of Seligman, by the side of her late husband who died in March 1893. |
