Text | Mahala Jane France was born February 16, 1856 at Hudson, Ind., died at her home, four miles northwest of Cassville, January 21, 1928, being 71 years, 11 months and 5 days old. Her death was very sudden, being sick only twelve hours, during which time she suffered intensely from a complication of diseases. She and Morris Bayless were married at Hudson, Ind., December 23, 1875. About four years later they moved to Alexander, Neb., living there about three and a half years, then they moved to Altamont, Kan., coming to Missouri in 1888, first locating in Monett. In February six years later they moved to their farm where they have since lived, which was almost thirty-four years ago. Six children were born to this union, two dieing in infancy. There are eleven grandchildren and three great grandchildren. # Two years ago they celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary, at which time the entire family was at home together for the last time. Mrs. Bayless was married just fifty-two years and one month on the day of burial. She had been a faithful member of the Missionary Baptist Church for over fifty years. Funeral services were held at the Exeter Baptist Church, January 23, conducted by Elders C. M. Smith and Chas Vanzandt, interment at Maplewood cemetery at Exeter. She is survived by her husband, three daughters, one son, eleven grandchildren, three great grandchildren, one sister and one brother besides several nieces and nephews. |
