Text | Mrs. Cora L. Bateman, 81, Washburn, died at 1 a.m. Monday at her home following a long illness. Mrs. Bateman was born Oct. 5, 1896, at Washburn, and was a lifetime area resident. She was active in the Jolly Friendship Club of Washburn and was a member of Washburn United Methodist Church. She is survived by her husband, L. E. Bateman, whom she married Oct. 4, 1966, in Cassville, a son, Ronald R. Williams, Athena, Ore.; a daughter, Mrs. Kathleen Browning, Washburn; two step-sons, Calvin Bateman and Clyde Bateman, both of Hutchinson, Kan.; three step-daughters, Mrs. Nora E. Monette, Theodore, Ore., Mrs. Lorena Tanner, South Bend, Ind., and Mrs. Oletha Mackey the State of Oklahoma; 18 grandchildren, 49 great-grandchildren and a great-great-grandson. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the United Methodist Church, Washburn. The Rev. Larry Kennard and the Rev. Bob Scott will officiate. Burial will be in Washburn Prairie Cemetery under direction of Axley's Culver Funeral Home, Cassville. Research Note: B. Oct. 5, 1896 - D.
