Text | John Newton Barr died at his home at Exeter, Thursday June 7. Funeral services were held, Friday and interment was made in the Exeter cemetery. R.M. Callaway's undertaking men had charge of the body. Mr. Barr was born Decemter 24, 1847 in Bradley county, Tenn. He moved to Barry county, Missouri, in 1852. He was converted when young and joined the Cumberland Presbyterian church. He was a zealous Sunday school worker and lived a consistent Christian life. He was married to Maria Elmina Whiteis, December 14, 1875. Six children were born, five of whom survive him. His wife and one daugher are dead. The surviving children are Mrs. Ida Bates, Mrs. Della Bayless, Mrs. Edith Packwood, Mrs. Glen Packwood and Robert Barr. His brothers and sisters who are living are Columbus Barr, of Eureka Springs; Scott Barr, of Exeter, Jennie Briscoe, of Exeter; Jennie Wetherby, of Joplin; Vesta Johnson, of Stockton, Calif. One sister and two brothers have died. |
