Text | Elizabeth Barcus, widow of the late J. C. Barcus, died at her home in this city, Tuesday afternoon, May 21, at 3 o'clock, following an illness of three weeks of a complication of troubles. Elizabeth C. Barcus was born November 24, 1861 in the state of Indiana. When a small girl her parents moved to Missouri and since that time she had lived in St. Clair, Newton and Barry Counties. She was married Feb. 11, 1883 to James James of Newton County. To this marriage one child was born, Lillian Branstetter, wife of C. H. Branstetter of Joplin who attended her mother during her last illness. Mr. James died Aug. 22, 1885. She was married to James Stansberry in Newton County, Apr. 25, 1887. To this marriage one child was born but died at the age of two years. Mr. Stansberry died in 1893. She was married to James Barcus in July 1895. No children were born to this marriage. She had lived in Cassville for about thirty years. She professed faith in Christ many years ago and was a member of the Christian church. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon at the home and interment made in the Oak Hill Cemetery. |
