| Text | Dies at 86, Stephen Balmas, Sr., one of the oldest residents’ of the community southeast of Monett, passed away Friday, of a stroke of paralysis, at the age of 86 years.
Mr. Balmas was a native of Italy. He came to the United States in 1890, locating near Monett. He bought a farm on which he spent the remainder of his life. Before leaving Italy he was married to Henrietta Long. To them twelve children were born, eight of whom are living. He was an excellent citizen and enjoyed the high esteem of many friends. Funeral services were held Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 22, at the Waldensian church. The services were conducted by the pastor, Rev. Leincoin Bartelsmeyer. Burial was in the cemetery at the church, Callaways in charge. |
