Text | Marvella Mae Balmas, 71, of Monett, died at 5:25 p.m. yesterday, May 10, at McCune-Brooks Hospital in Carthage.
Mrs. Balmas was born August 18, 1927, in Great Bend, Kansas, the daughter of Walter Elmo and Vinice Pearl Kitterman Batman. She was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Monett. She married Franklin Alfred Balmas on January 15, 1946, in Columbus, Kansas, and he preceded her in death May 19, 1992. Survivors include two sons, Stephen Balmas of Avendale, Louisiana, and Randall Balmas of Summit, Arkansas; one daughter, Connie Ebdon of The Dalles, Oregon; one brother, Willis Summers; six sisters, Faye Davis, Emily Call, Joy Green, Dorothy Flemming, Verna Williams, and Rozine Talmadge; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Services will be 10 a.m. Friday, May 14, at Buchanan Chapel in Monett with Rev. Michael Irvin officiating. Burial will be in Waldensian Cemetery south of Monett under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday, May 13, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to Shriners Crippled Children's Hospital.
