| Text | Jack Balmas, 73, of Monett, died at 6 a.m. yesterday, February 24, at his home. Mr. Balmas was born February 11, 1929, in Purdy, the son of William S. and Nellie M. (Horine) Balmas. He was a superintendent for Herzog Construction Company in St. Joseph and a member of Shoal Creek Revival Church near Pierce City. He married Frances Diotte on January 1, 1950, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Additional survivors include two sons, of Springfield, and of Monett; one brother, of Monett; six grandchildren and three great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one son, Jerald Balmas, in 1981. Graveside services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday, February 27, at Waldensian Cemetery south of Monett with Rev. Charlie Brown officiating under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from 7 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, February 26, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or Community Hospice. |
