Obit For Rev. Andrew Jackson Baker

Text - Outline Rev. A. J. Baker, a life-long citizen of this community, passed away Saturday afternoon, March 1 in Cassville where he had been for the past several years. For a number of years before his health forced his retirement, Mr. Baker was a minister of the Baptist church and during his years in the Ministry had served as Pastor of Baptist churches in different parts of this county. Mr. Baker was born in Cassville in 1862. He was the son of the late Andy J. Baker who lived for years in the Mt. Sinal community east of Cassville. He is survived by one daughter, Mrs. Bertha Shore of Cassville, and two sons, Amos Baker who lives in Texas and Charley Baker of Cassville.

Funeral services were held at the Culver Funeral Home Monday afternoon, March 3rd. Burial was in the Horner cemetery, southeast of Cassville four miles.

Rev. Baker was born June 27, 1862. He was married to Sarah Elizabeth King June 12, 1885. She passed away Feb. 6, 1929. To them four children were born, one daughter, Elsie, died in infancy. He was ordained to the Gospel Ministry Oct. 23, 1927. In addition to his children, grandchildren, and great grand-children, he is survived by three brothers, Cal of Miami, Okla.; Judge A.E. Baker of Cassville, and Will Baker of Topeka, Kan., and one sister, Mrs. Lou Davis who lives in California.
