Obit For Elijah Poe Bailey

Text Funeral Service for Elijah Bailey, 75, who died here Monday was held Tuesday morning by Rev. R. S. Rushing, pastor of the Nazarene Church and burial was in the Bentonville Cemetery.

He was born in Clinton, April 6, 1862, and had been in Bentoville 6 years. He is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Dovey Payton.
Research Note: He married America Malinda (Simpson) Wilkerson Feb 12, 1886 in Barry Co., MO.

His age on the 1910 is 10 years younger than in 1920 and on the obit.

In 1910 America Simpson was married to Elijah Bailey and living in LeFlore Co., OK. America's mother, Louisa, was living with them. House # 187: Houston Twp., LeFlore Co., OK. Bailey, Elijah P. Bailey, age 58, born in Arkansas, father born in KY, and mother born in TN. America, age 57, born in IN, and mother and father born in IN. Living in the house was Liza Alfred, age 83, born in IN, mother and father born in IN. It states that they have been married twenty-four years and that America has had 7 children and 6 are living. He was married once and she had been married twice. Researchers had Elijah formerly married to America's sister Mary Margaret. That data is incorrect. In 1910, the Federal Census states that Liza (Louisa) had 15 children and 9 are living. Liza listed that both of her parents and she were born in IN

1920 he is listed in Shoal Creek Twp., in Newton Co., MO, as age 57, born in AR, his father born in KY, and his mother born in TN. His wife was named Delia and she was age 58.

In 1910 he was born about 1852, in 1920 about 1862 and his obit reads that he was born in 1862.
