Text | Albert Avondet, 91, of Olathe, Kansas, formerly of Monett, died yesterday, May 15, at Aberdeen Village in Olathe, Kansas.
Mr. Avondet was born January 2, 1916, in Monett, the son of Henry and Elva Malan Avondet. He was a mail carrier for the U. S. Postal Service and an Air Force veteran of World War II. He was a member of Hobbs-Anderson Post 91 Monett American Legion and the Waldensian Presbyterian Church, south of Monett. He married Helen Marie Caldwell on June 25, 1945, in Phoenix, Arizona. Survivors include one son, of Clinton; one daughter, of Lenexa, Kansas; two brothers, of Monett and of Golden; four sisters, both of Monett, of Pierce City, and of Springfield; six grandchildren and four great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by one brother, Edward Avondet; and two sisters, Wilma Easson and Helen Wormington. Services will be 1 p.m. Friday, May 18, at Waldensian Presbyterian Church south of Monett with Rev. Vicki Evans officiating. Burial will be in Oakdale Cemetery in Monett under the direction of Buchanan Funeral Home of Monett. Visitation will be from 6 to 8 p.m. tomorrow, May 17, at the funeral home. Memorials may be made to the church memorial fund. |
