Text | Mrs. Jessie Atkisson, wife of Robert Atkisson, died Thursday morning of last week at the Mayfield sanitarium at St. Louis, where she had been taken a few before her treatment.
The deceased was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Burton and was born January 9, 1874. In early life she became a member of the Christian Church and was an energetic worker in the course. A short time after her marriage to Robert Atkisson in 1898, her health began to fail and for the past two years she had been a constant sufferer. Everything known made of science was done for her, but it became evident that her life was slowly __bbing away. Upon consultation it was decided to take her to St. Louis where an operation was performed. AT first the indications were hopeful, but only for a short time. The relapse came and she sank into that sleep that knows no earthly awakening. The remains were brought to Cassville, Friday morning and the funeral services held at 8:30 p.m. the Cassville Band of which the grief stricken husband, was a member attend the services and escorted the cortège to the church and from there to the cemetery. Rev. Cocharan delivered a beautiful eulogy to the memory of the departed. The deceased was well known and dearly loved. She was an estimable lady of rare attainments. She leaves a husband and little daughter to mourn her loss. |
