Text | George W. Ash, 88, of Cassville, died at noon September 24 at St. John's Regional Health Center in Springfield following a long illness.
Mr. Ash was born August 31, 1911, in Hurley, the son of Marion and Monnie Holloway Ash. He was a farmer and construction carpenter, a member of the carpenter's union in Springfield, and a member of Oak Ridge Baptist Church in Cassville. He married Dora Terry on February 26, 1938, and she preceded him in death October 10, 1983. He married Edith Williamson Smith on October 6, 1984, in Cassville. Survivors include one son, one daughter, one step-son, three step-daughters, four brothers, three sisters, three grandchildren, 10 step-grandchildren, five great grandchildren, and several step-great grandchildren. Services were 2 p.m. today, September 27, at Williamson Chapel in Cassville with Brother Larry Henbest, Rev. Mark Moller, and Rev. Ervin Standlee officiating. Burial was in Log Church Memorial Gardens east of Butterfield under the direction of Williamson Funeral Home of Cassville. Memorials may be made to the church building fund. |
