Text | John Adcock, an old and pioneer citizen of Barry County, passed away at his home in Washburn about 12 o'clock Saturday at the advanced age of 84 years. His death was due to old age and Bright's disease.
Mr. Adcock was born in Virginia where he was reared to manhood and came to Missouri in 1856 with his parents who settled on a farm north of Washburn. There and in Washburn, he has lived since, until his death. Soon after coming to this county he was married to Martha George to whom survives. Ten children were born to this union, five of who survive. They are Chas. Adcock of Okmulgee, Okla., John Adcock of Wheaton, Mrs. Kate Westmoreland of Kansas City, Mrs. Dixie Gullies and W. B. Adcock of Washburn. Short funeral services were held Sunday afternoon, conducted by Rev. P. H. Hodge of Washburn and remains interred at the Washburn Prairie Cemetery. |
