He was age 31 years, 1 month and 8 days old when he died. His father was Reubin T. Raines, born IN, Jane Marshall, born TN, was his mother. He was married to Miss Helen Apple on February 23, 1925. To this union was born one child who survives him. He served his country during the last war, and it was while stationed at Camp Mc Arthur, Tex., that he had the flu, which finally led to his contracting the disease which caused his death. Reese of near Washburn, Mrs. Kate Robbins, Lawrence Co., G. C. Reese of Miller, Peter Reese of Okla. and Sam Reese of Idaho. For 35 years Mrs. Reese had been a member of the M. E. Church South, and died in that faith, the remains were conveyed to Washburn Prairie, Monday afternoon and there laid to rest beside her husband, who had gone before. Grandfather did not fight in the Civil War (he hid out) and Grandmother and her five little children were burned out of their homes "three different homes" by Kansas Bushwhackers or guerillas, leaving her with one small wagon with shafts, one horse, one feather bed and a few quilts. After the Civil War he came to Washburn, Barry County, MO - settled in Old Washburn - where he followed the blacksmith trade. This was year of 1866. Benjamin Newton Reese, a brother of Grandfather Reese, made his home in his latter days with Grandfather, since he had never married. Died at home of Grandfather in or near Seligman, Barry County, MO. The body was brought to Washburn Prairie Cemetery for burial. His grave being just east of Grandfather and Grandmother Reese.
