JENSEN, Ernest W., III | Oct. 28, 1947 | Mar. 10, 2010 Newton Co., MO |
Military Inscription: "BM3 US NAVY - VIETNAM" - Mar. 9, 2010 - One week later the search continues for Ernest Jensen, 62, of Stark City. The Eastern Newton County veteran is still missing. Jensen, described as white male, resides on Vixen Road, which is located off of U.S. 60. He was last seen around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 3. Apparently, he walked off into the woods. "He has done this before, I believe that it was twice before, but he has come home before," said the Sherrif's Deputy in last week's article. "But I think that this is the longest that he has been gone this time. Apparently, he suffers from post traumatic stress, he says, from Vietnam." - March 11, 2010 - Missing man's body found: The body of missing Ernest Jensen, a 62-year-old Vietnam War veteran, was found late Wednesday night. "About 8:30 p.m. Wednesday, a lady called the sheriff's office, she discovered the body lying under a bunch of thickets and brush, near a water tank and a horse trough for her horses," said the Newton County Sheriff. "This is three-quarters to a mile west of where he lived. We do not know when he got there. We don't know if he was trying to make his way back home or what the situation was. Right now, there are no physical signs of anything, we are going to assume it was exposure or something like that, but just to make sure, we will conduct an autopsy today." Jensen was last seen around 3:30 a.m. Wednesday, March 3, at his home on Vixen Road, which is located right off of U.S. 60 in eastern Newton County. His wife reported him missing. This was not the first time that Jensen had left, but he had always come back. "As of yesterday, we have been talking to his wife and she was thinking that maybe he had made it down to Fayetteville, Ark., veterans hospital," the Newton County Sheriff said. "This is certainly not the outcome that we had hoped and prayed for. We certainly feel badly for his wife." | Photo Jim Pierce News Items Phyllis Long |
