Research Note: Son of Charles Efton and Mary Elizabeth "Bessie" (Ray) Edwards, was born on October 16, 1938 at home on the James River near Cape Fair. He grew up in the Eagle Rock/Shell Knob area and attended the Fairview School. In 1958 he moved to the Mineral Springs community and following his marriage, they moved to Pioneer. Mr. Edwards' passion was fiddlin' and he retired from Forest Products in Cassville following 30 years of service. He married Veronica Jane Stipp on September 29, 1971, in Neosho, Missouri. She preceded him in death on July 17, 2007. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jennifer Rose Edwards; a grandson, Adam Potts; a step-daughter, Veronica "Sissy" Bailey; two sisters, Doris Ray Butler and Iva Melvina Christina Wells; one half brother, Charles Woodrow; and one half sister, Edith Pearl Cordill. | White Funeral Home Phyllis Long |

Mrs. Edwards was born June 29, 1944, in Kansas City, Kansas, the daughter of Frank and Elizabeth (Burdolski) Stipp. She had been employed at George's Poultry and Wal-Mart. She was a member of St. Lawrence Catholic Church in Monett. She married Joe Edwards on September 29, 1971, in Neosho, and he survives. Additional survivors include two sons, William Bailey of Monett and Phillip Bailey of Wheaton; one daughter, Lisa Edwards of Monett; two brothers, Thomas Stipp of Purdy and Robert Stipp of Butterfield; four sisters, Sandra Forester, Pam Cunningham, and Barbara Stipp, all of Purdy, and Patricia Ray of Butterfield; six grandchildren, three step-grandchildren, two great grandchildren, six step-great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Services will be 11 a.m. Friday, July 20, at White Funeral Home in Cassville with Everett Bunch officiating. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Catholic Cemetery in Pulaskifield. SSW: Shirley A. - Research Note: William D. Elwing, 64, of Pierce City, died at 5 p.m. February 20 at Cox Monett Hospital following an apparent heart attack. Mr. Elwing was born July 21, 1935, in Sheboygan, Wisconsin, the son of Ferdinand and Getrude Bohnert Elwing. He owned and operated Elwing Manufacturing in Campbellsport, Wisconsin, retiring in 1980. He moved to the Pierce City area and raised and showed Polled Hereford cattle. He was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church and Knights of Columbus Council 7130, both in Pierce City. He married Shirley Luedtke on December 28, 1958, in Campbellsport, Wisconsin, and she survives. Additional survivors include six daughters, Joan Elwing of Pierce City, Dr. Anne Marie Elwing and her husband, Kevin Walleser, of DeSoto, Wisconsin, Dr. Terry Elwing and her husband, Mark Abramovitz, and Dr. Jill Elwing, both of Columbia, Mary Jo Elwing of Warrensburg, and Dr. Jean Elwing of St. Louis; one sister, Patricia Tolzman of Lomira, Wisconsin; and seven grandchildren. Funeral Mass will be 10:30 a.m. tomorrow, February 23, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Pierce City with Father Peter Morciniec officiating. Burial will be in Sts. Peter and Paul Cemetery in Pulaskifield under the direction of Lakin Funeral Home of Pierce City. Rosary will be 7 p.m. today, February 22, at the funeral home with visitation to follow.
