SSW: Jean - Inscription: "Married Apr. 30, 1955" - Research Note: Son of Emil Johann Schad and Bertha Wilhelmina Casper. Alvin was a lifelong resident of the area and was drafted in the Army in late 1950. After training, he went to Korea and in May, 1951, he was captured by Chinese soldiers and marched deep into North Korea. He eventually spent 27 months in captivity until his repatriation at Panmunjom in August, 1953. He never hesitated to give God the credit for seeing him through his captivity. After returning home to a wonderful parade in Monett, Alvin quietly got on with his life. He farmed, worked for 10 years at Monett's MFA and ultimately took a job at Marsh Engineering and stayed for 26 years and retired in 1990. While working at the MFA, he fell under the charms of Jean Weber, the store's feisty, quick-witted bookkeeper. Before long they were married and moved to a small farm west of Purdy, where they made a wonderful life for them and their children. Family says that Cecelia was really Caecelia Goos Storck. - Cassville Republican, Apr. 20, 1916 - Prominent Young Business Man Passes Away: Will Storck, a young business man of Purdy, died at his home in Purdy, Wednesday afternoon, April 12, of measles and pneumonia, following an illness of several days. Mr. Storck had been the very picture of robust manhood. He became sick of measles and pneumonia also set up. The measles failed to break out well and his condition was considered serious for a few days before he died. However, on the day of his death he appeared much better and only a few minutes before he passed away talked freely and suggested some of his friends who had called that the weather seemed fine and that soon he hoped to be able to go out with them for a drive. On account of his apparent improvement his physician advised Judge Storck, Will's father, that he could come over to Cassville that day and look after his official duties on the board of equalization. Judge Storck came over and felt hopeful of his son's rapid improvement until about 3:30 o'clock when he received the sad message. Will Storck was born on the Storck homestead northeast of Purdy 3 1/2 miles in 1882 and had lived in this county all of his life. Until a few years ago he had engaged in farming and had been a successful farmer. After moving to Purdy he became associated with his father in business and was a successful and promising young business man. He was a member of the Lutheran church and estimable citizen. The county had no better citizen than Will Storck and his passing away is a distinct loss which has caused sincere grief to the entire community in which he had spent his life. He leaves a wife and four small children, three daughters and one son. All of the children have been ill of measles. The funeral conducted by Rev. Meyers, his pastor, was held Friday at 1 o'clock. A short service was held at the home and continued at the Lutheran Church northwest of Purdy. The large crowd in attendance from Purdy, surrounding community and from Cassville and Monett spoke in highest terms of the respect in which he was held. - Another Photo | Online Obit Death Certificate Donna Cooper Photo Jay Trace |
