Five Generations Enjoy Gathering

Bessie Boyd and Mintie Hughey, both of Purdy, respected mothers of Dick and Dimple Harris of Monett enjoyed a visit with their chidlren and their families one Sunday afternoon with five generations being present in both homes.

Mrs. Boyd, left photo, is seated next to her son, Dick Harris, Standing are, left to right, Fred Harris of Purdy, grandson of Mrs. Boyd, and Steve Harris of Purdy, great-grandson, holding Lindsay Harris, great-great granddaughter.

Mrs. Huhey is seated next to her daughter, Dimple Harris, in the right photo, and standing are, left to right, Steve Harris, great-grandson, holding Lindsay Harris, great-great granddaughter, and Fred Harris, grandson.

My Mom had this clipping in a shoebox. She forgot how she got it, but thinks it may have been among one her uncle's effects.

The Bessie Boyd mentioned was a daughter of James W. and Fannie M. (Fowler) McIntosh. She was born in 1894 probably in Barry Co. and probably died there in 1988 and is buried in Sparks cemetery. It must be pretty rare for the event of 5 generations alive at once to occur twice in one family at the same time.
