She was born Dec. 2, 1907, in Washburn, MO, to James and Missouri Ann (Woodard) Hall. She moved to Galena 20 years ago from Jacket, MO. She was a Baptist and enjoyed crocheting, quilting and needlework. Her husband, Ellis Patterson, preceded her in death on Jan. 30, 1961. Survivors include one daughter, one sister, and one granddaughter. Branch, Lubbock Youth, Is Killed By Train - Sixteen-Year-Old Lad Slips from Freight to be Crushed Under Wheels At Colorado City. - Formerly Worked at Avalanche-Journal. Funeral Arrangements Are Incomplete; Has Brother and Sister Residing In Lubbock. - Slipping from the side of a moving freight train, which spectators said he was attempting to board on the outskirts of Colorado, Texas, yesterday morning, Dugan F. Branch, 16, of Lubbock, fell to his death beneath the grinding wheels of the train, according to a message received by the Avalanche late yesterday. The youth had been in Lubbock for about two years, although is father resides in Amarillo. Until a few weeks ago he had been employed in the stereotyping department of the Avalanche-Journal composing room. Left Last Tuesday - Young Branch, with Wendell Thompson, 16, son of Mr. and Mrs. H. W. Thompson of 1917 Seventh street, left Lubbock last Tuesday morning, presumably to work their way to the oil fields around Odessa and Midland. No word was received from them until the news came of Young Branch's death yesterday. Reports from Colorado were that the accident occurred on the eastern side of town about 10:30 yesterday morning. Dugan was attempting to board the freight train and in some manner slipped, falling beneath the wheels. The body was crushed, according to information from the Jones-Russell Undertaking firm at Colorado. No word had been received late last night from young Thompson, and his parents were making an effort to locate him. At Colorado it was said that young Thompson left soon after the accident. Parents Here - Oscar Branch of Amarillo, father of the boy who was killed, arrived in Lubbock late last night. Mrs. Branch, the mother, was already in Lubbock, and was staying with a daughter, Mrs. Perry Patterson of Lubbock. Funeral arrangements had not been completed at a late hour last night. It was expected that the body would arrive today from Colorado. Research Note: Paschell was the son of Perry Alfred Patterson Sr. and Hattie Bell (Branch) Patterson. He was the brother of Betty Sue, Preston, and Perry Jr. His parents and his brother Perry preceded him in death. He loved horses and reading and was a farmer for most of his life. He also was a deputy sheriff for Barry County Missouri, and rode in the mounted sheriff's posse. He was well liked and a good man. Paschell died on the morning of the 9/11 attacks. He had been sick for a long time, and had passed away before the attacks happened. He suffered through a devastating cancer death and was brave throughout. Research Note: son of Perry Patterson, Sr. and Hattie Belle (Branch) Patterson. On September 21, 1958 in Maricopa, Arizona he was united in marriage to Elda "Jewell" McElhannon, who preceded him in death on Jan. 25, 2020. Also preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Frances Louise; two grandsons, Mark and James; two brothers, Perry and Paschell and a great-grandaughter, Jayci. Surviving are one son; two daughters; one sister; 11 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren and two great-great grandchildren with one on the way. Preston moved with his family to Washburn, Missouri at the age of two, coming from Texas. He grew up and attended school in Washburn graduating from Southwest High School. After graduation he joined the United States Army serving from Feb. 2, 1954 until Jan. 11, 1956. Upon returning he and Jewell lived in several different areas and finally settled in Washburn, Missouri in 1974 where he began his farming career raising cattle, chickens and crops. Preston enjoyed fishing, trapping, hunting and searching for arrowheads. He always had a huge garden when he was younger and continued to grow tomatoes and strawberries as long as he was able. Terry Rose, 28, who resided about seven miles southwest of Washburn, was pronounced dead on arrival at approximately 4 a.m. Friday at St. John's Hospital, Springfield. Death, according to Williamson, resulted from a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Williamson said Rose was shot in the head at close range at his home about 1 a.m. The weapon used was a .357 magnum pistol, the coroner said.
