His wife was named as Carrie Taylor and she was the informant on the death certificate. - He lived his entire life in this community excepting for two years as a young man, he lived near West Liberty, Iowa. He married Zona Bales 1904. To this union had three children: Raymond Taylor of Joplin, MO, Warda Taylor of Modesto, CA, and Mona Utter (deceased), wife Zona passed away in 1910. He married Allie Jones in 1910 and they had three children: Orba Taylor, Fairview, MO, Hugh Taylor of South San Francisco, CA and Evva Fraizer of San Francisco, CA. His second wife, Allie passed away in May 1940. He then made his home with his son, Orba and family, until May 30,1942, when he married to Carrie Jessie of Stella, MO, she survives. He was a member of the Church of the Christ, having obeyed the Gospel about 1915. With exception of the two years in the home of his son, he lived at his farm home in the Oshkosh community 55 years, until October 1960, he moved with his wife to property in Stella, MO. The last month of his life, he was cared for in the home of a niece, Mrs. Eleta Williams, near Neosho, MO. In addition to his wife and five children, he leaves to mourn his passing, one brother, Henry Taylor of Blue Jacket, OK, and one sister, Mrs. Addie Meaghers of Miami, OK, 16 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends. Thomas (son) of Fairview, MO was the informant on the death certificate. - Wheaton Journal, January 3, 1929 - Daniel Thomas, one of the most highly respected citizens of Newton County, who lived three and one-half miles east of Stella, has passed away. He was born in Rush County, Indiana, Oct. 4, 1846 and died December 11, 1928 at the age of 82 years, 2 months and 6 days. He joined the Federal army at the age of 18 and served until he was honorably discharged at the close of the Civil War. He then came to Newton County about 1870 and lived in the same neighborhood practically all the time since. Mr. Thomas was married to Sarah M. (Parker) McCallister June 23, 1872. To this union were born nine children, five boys and four girls, three of whom preceded him to the great beyond. Those living are: Edward Thomas of Batesville, Ark., Mrs. Nora Colwell, Sacramento, Cal., Arthur Thomas, Fairview, Mo., Mrs. Davis, Stark City, Mo., Mrs. Ethel Mitchell, Los Angles, Cal. He leaves to mourn their great loss besides an aged widow and one stepson, the above children, 34 grand children. 20 great-grand children and a host of other relatives and friends.
