Death was mostly the result of old age and diseases incident thereto. Daughter of Jesse Nicodemos and Elizabeth "Betsy" Roady. Wife of Robert Andrew Long. She was a member of the Christian church of this place and a devoted Christian woman. Funeral services were held in the church where Eld. Crider made a very appropriate talk. Interment was made in the Rocky Comfort cemetery - Independent. - Mrs. Celia (Nicodemus) Long, was born in the state of TN being at the time of death, 86 years, 5 months, and 8 days old. She died Jan. 22, 1916 at one o'clock after a long illness and suffering very intensively for the two months preceding her death, but she bore it patiently and passed to the great beyond with a smile on her face. She was married to Robert Long in TN in 1853, and for 29 years they shared each others joy and sorrows. When in the state of TX on Aug. 23, 1882 her companion was taken from her side and she was left to rear her children and fight life's battles alone, but now the victory is won. She was the mother of 9 children, five boys and four girls. Five of them, three daughters and two sons, having preceded her to the Spirit land. Several years under the preaching of Brother Will Dethridge, she obeyed the gospel and united with the Church of Christ at this place and was a faithful soldier until her death. The funeral services were conducted at the church, Jan. 23, 1916 by Brothers Crider and Briggs who did very appropriate for the occasion; after which the body was laid to rest in the Rocky Comfort, MO cemetery. - Another Photo | Online Obit Phyllis Long Photo Obit Patty McWilliams Photo Bill Utter |
