She was born in Westphalia, Prussia, in Sept. 1820, and who with her husband now deceased, settled near Eureka Springs, Ark., 35 years, where they engaged in the saw milling business. Her husband dying many years ago, she took charge of the business and very successfully managed it and amassed quite a fortune. She leaves two sons and a daughter, Mrs. Jas. Research Note: Cassville Republican, July 21, 1932 - J. T. Smelser, age 80 years, passed away at his home here Sunday night, July 10, 1932. "Uncle Tom", as he was known, came to this county from Kentucky at a very early age and homesteaded the farm on which he lived and died. He married a girl by the name of Molly Blee. To them two children were born, Cleo and Ernest. Mr. and Mrs. Smelser were divorced and he then married Nancy Katherine "Callie" Priest. There were two children born to this marriage, dying in infancy. Mrs. And Mrs. Smelser were divorced and then remarried. After Mrs. Smelser died, Mr. Smelser married Rosa Carter, his present wife. Uncle Tom had been very ill for sometime and had not been expected to live, however his death was a great shock to the community. He was buried in the Roach cemetery, July 11. His is survived by his wife, a son, Cleo, of Albuquerque, NM, a step-son Leroy Carter, and a granddaughter, Mildred Smelser of this community. - Nov. 7, 1903, Saturday, Cassville Democrat, Barry County, MO - Roaring River No. 3 News Items: J. Research Note: Eagle Rock, Barry Co., MO resident. She was the daughter of Roy and Dora (Landon) McVey. Aliene attended Andover High School in Andover, Kansas, and on June 29, 1947, she was united in marriage to Glen Weinbrenner; he preceded her in death in October 2001. They were residents of Eagle Rock for 44 years where they owned and operated Golden Pump Company. Aliene was active in the development of the Eagle Rock Community Center; she volunteered for many events held there. She was an avid bingo player with groups both in Eagle Rock and Shell Knob, and participated in the senior bowling league.
