Funeral To Be Held Thursday For William Henry Weeks, 96, Of Exeter |
Text | William Henry Weeks, 96, a pioneer resident of Barry county, died yesterday at 4:30 p.m. at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Charles Lewis, at Exeter, following a long illness. Mr. Weeks had engaged in farming in the Corsicana community most of his life. He was born February 4, 1850 in Memphis, Tennessee, and came to Barry county at the age of 21. He lived in the Corsicana community until nine years ago when he moved to Exeter to live with his daughter.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Minnie Lewis, Exeter, Mrs. Mamie Spencer, Cabool, and Mrs Montie Reese, Melrose, Colorado; two sons, A. M. Weeks, Purdy, and Arthur Weeks, Tulride, Colorado; 57 grandchildren and great-grandchildren; and on great-great-grandchild. His wife and five children, John, Oscar, Lloyd, Maude and Mabel, preceded him in death. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 2 p. m. at the Exeter Baptist church, with the Rev. Charles Bowers, Monett, officiating and with Rev. Charles Van-Zandt, Exeter, assisting. The Blankenship funeral home will be in charge and burial will be in the Corsicana cemetery beside his wife. |
