Text | Old Settler Died: Wm. Lipe, grandfather of W. H. Lipe, of this city, died at an early hour, Wednesday morning at the home of his grandson, Geo. Lipe, near McDowell, at the age of 92 years. He had lived for several years with W. H. Lipe in this city. The funeral services were held Wednesday afternoon and interment was made in the Arnhart Cemetery. He had lived in Barry County since 1869, and has one son living, Joseph Lipe, who resides east of Purdy.
W. H. Lipe and two sons attended the funeral. Monett Times. Cedar Bluff News: Uncle William Lipes died at his grandson's George Lipe, who lives on the Oliver Brite place. Uncle Billy was ninety-two years old at his death. He had lived in Barry County about fifty years. He was one of our old Pioneer settlers and was well liked by everybody who knew him. He lived a consistent Christian life. His life should be an example for the younger generation to follow. [Research Note: Both spellings of Lipes and Lipe used in the same article.] |
