On July 20, 1952, in Eureka Springs, Arkansas, she was united in marriage to Olen Epperly, who preceded her in death on March 19, 1999. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one sister, Marilyn Huffman in 1982; six half-brothers, Jim Starkey, Albert Talbert, Charles Talbert, Lorne Henson, Glen Henson, Calvin Henson; one half-sister, Marcella Gordon and a great granddaughter, Summer. Jewel grew up and received her elementary education at the Gaddis School near Shell Knob and then went to Cassville High School, graduating with the Class of 1951. After graduating she moved to Los Angeles, California, working there one year and then she returned to Shell Knob to make her home. Most of her life was spent helping Olen on the farm. She also had been employed at Jumping Jack Shoe Factory, Shell Knob Elementary School as a cook and Rima's Supermarket. She received her education in Odessa, Mo., where she graduated from high school and then attended two years of college. On Aug. 14, 1953, in Des Moines, Iowa, she married Alvin Joseph Fitzpatrick. After their marriage, she and her husband lived in Kansas City, Mo., where they started their family. In 1968, they moved to Shell Knob. They owned and operated Fitz's Fish N Fun Resort, retiring at the end of 1976. She was a member of Country Club Christian Church in Kansas City, and attended Central Community United Methodist Church in Shell Knob. She was also a member of Central Crossing Association Ladies' Auxiliary and was active in getting the community building built. She was preceded in death by her husband on Nov. 9, 1990. She was also preceded in death by her parents. In 1989, after living in various places, they moved to Shell Knob to retire and make a home. She was a member of Shrine Ladies and enjoyed her pets and visiting with friends on the phone. She was a wonderful wife and mother, a loving grandma, cherished sister and loyal friend. We celebrate her life and accomplishments and will cherish her memory for the rest of our lives. He was a commodities grain merchandiser with Farmland Industries in St. Louis and Overland Park, Kansas, and moved to Shell Knob in 1984. He was a member of the Trinity Presbyterian Church in Shell Knob, a member of the Central Crossing 674 AF and AM Masonic Lodge and a 32nd Degree Scottish Rite Mason. He was a member of the Abou Ben Adhem Shrine Temple in Springfield and the Shell Knob Shrine Club. He married Mary Carter on March 22, 1951, in Champaign, Illinois. Research Note: Researchers say his first wife was Mary Gander born 1811 and died 1841 buried at Elkhart Co., IN. Daniel W. Gray married Hannah Goodrich on Sept. 18, 1842 in Elkhart Co., IN. Hannah is buried at Brookline Cemetery, Brookline, Greene Co., MO. Born 1822, died 1895. Posted at findagrave by Harold and Wanda Blackwell: Husband of Hannah Gray. Son of Thomas and Mary Gray, both parents were born in New Jersey. First married to Mary Gander on August 5, 1830 in Franklin Co., Ohio. Mary died in 1841. While living in Ohio Daniel worked as a County Clerk, School Examiner and Justice of the Peace. He then married Hannah (b. 1823 in Indiana) and had two sons, Homer (b. 1862 in Wisconsin) and Ross (b. 1866 Michigan). At some point they ended up in Barry Co., Missouri as they are listed there on the 1880 Federal Census.
