Inscription: "MISSOURI PFC 17 INF 7 INF DIV KOREA" - Research Note: Son of John Marshall Ozbun and Mary Katherine Writer. - Cassville Republican, March 6, 1952 - Military honors were given by the Irwin-Easley Post of the American Legion here yesterday afternoon at the final rites for Pfc. Ralph Ozburn, who was killed in action November 27, 1951, in the Korean war. The body of Pfc. Ozbun arrived at the Frisco station in Exeter Monday night of this week from overseas. Funeral services were held at the Culver Funeral Chapel here at 2:00 o'clock with the Rev. Calvin E. Henderson officiating, and Military rites were held at the graveside in Oak Hill cemetery. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. John Powell and step-father, John Powell and step-brother, John Powell of Cassville; three half-sisters, Mrs. Ray Cummons and Miss Jewell Ozburn of Kansas City and Miss Maxine Powell of the home. The obit has his both Ozburn and Ozbun in the spelling. - Joplin Globe, Mar. 1, 1952 - The body of PFC Ralph Ozbun, 23 years old, who was killed Nov. 27 in Korea, will arrive Monday night at Exeter and will be received by the Culver funeral home of Cassville. Surviving are his mother, Mrs. Tom Powell of Cassville and three sisters, Mrs. Ray Cummons and Miss Jewell Ozbun of Kansas City and Miss Maxine Ozbun of the home. Funeral services will be held at 2 o'clock Wednesday in the Culver chapel with the Rev. Calvin Henderson officiating.
