Euclid St. in reference to a domestic disturbance. A female friend of the couple who lived at the address met officers outside the home. The officers found the doors to the home locked but could see a man's body in the living room through a window, the police chief said. The officers kicked in the front door to gain entry, and the man and a woman discovered inside were already dead, he said. The couple, identified as Curtis Brandon Carter and Shelly Kay Garner, 31, were fatally shot. Garner's body was found in a bedroom. The news release said investigators believe the deaths were the consequence of domestic violence. A high-powered rifle was recovered near Carter's body. Barry County Coroner Charles McManus was called to the scene, and autopsies were scheduled to be performed Monday at Cox Medical Center South in Springfield. Schweder said in the news release that Garner's 6-year-old daughter, who lived with the couple, was not home at the time. The police chief said there had been no previous domestic-violence calls to the address. Curtis Brandon Carter was charged with unlawful use of a weapon after a Sept. 21 incident last year. He was arrested after shots were fired with a .38-caliber handgun at an apartment in Monett. Shelly Kay Garner and her daughter were asleep in the apartment at the time but were not harmed, police said. Barry Co. Advertiser

George Gilbert of Monett, MO was the informant on the death certificate. - Cassville Republican, September 9, 1915 - Young Man Commits Suicide: Herman Gilbert, twenty-three years of age, committed suicide at an early hour Wednesday morning Sept. 1, at the home of his father, George Gilbert, five miles south of Monett, by shooting himself in the forehead with a 38 caliber revolver. The young man who had been of feeble mind and ill health for years, arose from his bed at 3 o'clock, went to the pasture near the house, caught the two work horses, put them in the barn, and then set fire to the building. Withers and Ray Beymer, was called, who after hearing the evidence and viewing the body brought in the following verdict. "We the undersigned jurors, after examining the body of H. O.
