On November 10, 1947, in Joplin, Missouri, he was united in marriage to Opal Lafern Beam. Preceding him in death were his parents; one daughter, Gloria Anne and four sisters, Ruth Burdette, Nora Levich, Dorothy Snider and Opal Utter. George grew up in Wheaton and then joined the United States Air Force, serving during World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War. He was an air plane mechanic and retired from the Air Force in 1963. Tuesday at his home in Wheaton after suffering an apparent heart attack. Born Sept. 27, 1909, near Rocky Comfort, Mr. Utter had lived in the area most of his life. Son of Milton George Utter and Myrtle Briggs. He was a member of the Church of Christ. He married Lucille Narrell June 13 1927, in Cassville. She survives. Other survivors include a son; a daughter; three sisters; two grandchildren and three great-grandchildren. Services will be at 2 p.m. Thursday at the McQueen Chapel in Wheaton. Burial will be in Muncie Chapel Cemetery, north of Wheaton. On November 10, 1947 in Joplin, Missouri, she was united in marriage to George Corneilius Utter, who preceded her in death on April 7, 2014. Also preceding her in death were her parents; one daughter, Gloria Anne and two brothers, Kenneth Martin Beam and William Lee Beam. Fern attended school for a few months in Cleora, Oklahoma before moving to Wheaton, where she graduated from high school. After high school she attended certified nurse's aide and med tech school in Monett. For many years she taught Bible classes and was very active with Cub Scouts and Girl Scouts. Warner, 18, died Wednesday night in St. Johns Hospital in Springfield where he was taken following a one-vehicle accident at 10 p. m. Wednesday, May 24th on Highway W in Wheaton. Warner was born on November 23, 1953, at Cassville Mo., and was a lifelong resident. He graduated from Wheaton High School last year and had just completed his freshman year at Crowder College. He was a member of the New Hope Baptist Church. His mother, Mrs. Lorene Warner, of the home a brother, a half brother, and his paternal grandmother Mrs. Lucy Warner, Wheaton, survives him. Funeral services were held Saturday in the McQueen Funeral Home at Wheaton, with Rev. Raymond Cameron officiating. He was a farmer and lifelong area resident. He was a veteran of World War II and a member of VFW Post No. 5219 of Wheaton, Mo. He was also a member of the Calvary Baptist Church. He married Imogene Baker Aug. 20, 1949 in Bartlesville, Okla. She died June 9, 1973. He is survived by a son, a daughter, a stepson, a stepdaughter, two brothers, a sister and six grandchildren. Funeral services were held Monday in the McQueen Chapel, Wheaton, with the Rev. R. B. Cameron officiating. Research Note: Son of George White and Sarah Winans. - Wheaton Journal, May 16, 1919 - Geo. A. White was born at Morris Franklin County, Ind. Aug. 11 1880, was educated and graduated at the State University of Terre Haute Ind. He came to Wheaton Mo. In Dec. 1906 and established the Wheaton Journal the following spring. He served as principal of the Wheaton High School during the term 1910-11. On Jan. 12, 1913 he was united in marriage to Miss Estella Davis and the following May they moved to Waldron Kansas where he edited The State Line Democrat. For the past two years he has been teaching school in Oklahoma. During the month of February he contracted a severe case of influenza and since that time his health has been gradually failing. He died at the home of J. H. Davis may 11, age 38 years 9 months. While George was not a member of any church, he took much interest in Sunday school and his old class will long remember some of his words and teachings. To his wife and children he was always a kind and loving husband and father. Although he suffered much in his last illness no word of complaint was ever uttered and his only sorrow seemed to be in leaving his wife and children. Besides these he leaves father, mother, and one sister and a host of other relatives and friends to mourn his death. Funeral services were conducted by Bro.
