Stewart of Purdy, MO was the informant on the death certificate. - June 6, 1912, Thursday, Cassville Republican - Pioneer News: W. F. Stewart and family attended the burial of Miss Nellie Privett at Newtonia last week. Miss Privett, who died of typhoid fever, was a daughter of Will Privett of Neosho. - Neosho Daily News, Dec. 4, 1930 - Amanda Magnolia Privett was born Apr. 19, 1861, near Fayetteville, AR and died Nov. 29, 1930 near Pioneer, MO, age 69 years, 7 months, and 10 days. She moved to Newtonia, MO with her parents in 1868 where she grew to womanhood. She united with the Church of Christ in 1877 and was married on Jan. 16, 1881, to W. F. Stewart. To this union 10 children were born, six girls and four boys; Juanita Wormington, Neosho; Nellie Mae Stark, Pioneer, MO; Bessie Jane Speaks, Bartlesville, OK, who preceded her mother in death on Mar. 31, 1930; W. F. "Jack" Stewart, Jr., Miami, OK; Nannie Frances, Wheaton, MO; R. Sydney Stewart, Picher, OK; Mary Lu Hammons, Stella, MO, route 1; Maggie Irene Hutchens, Pioneer, MO; and Leahlan P. Needless to say, her hands were always busy, but never too busy to help a child, friend or neighbor in any need of sickness or health. She was a wonderful woman with her needle, and many came to her for aid in making a garment or for advice in knitting, or other handwork. Besides raising a family of ten children, and seeing them all married except one, her youngest, who was 28 years of age. Mrs. Stewart, at the death of her mother, took charge of a brother of two years and a sister of four years, caring for them, and when a sister died, some years later, leaving a two week old babe, the infant was brought to her, and she cared for him. Her ambition was to live to celebrate her fiftieth wedding anniversary with an unbroken family union, and this she so nearly realized. She had even planned her new wedding dress, but a few days before her death she told us she couldn't stay that long, that she would to leave us soon. - A Daughter. | Death Certificate Online Newspapers Neosho Daily News Phyllis Long Photo Ralph and Betty Lamberson |
