Edna and Alvin raised their 2 children, daughter Edna 'Liz' Smith-Negrete and son Kenneth Wayne Smith in La Puente, California. In 1971 Edna married Orrin Nehls, who preceded her in death in 2016. Clif Crockett officiating. Casket bearers were Dan Boyd, Carl Nielsen, Scott Whisman, Dan Hinken, Frank Washburn, and Jack Williams. Burial was in Monett IOOF Cemetery under the direction of Bennett-Wormington Funeral Home of Monett. Military rites were conducted by members of Tom Wolfe Memorial Post 4207 Monett Veterans of Foreign Wars. Research Note: He was the son of the late Floyd and Rhea (Mayberry) Nine. He graduated from Gage High School in 1952, and continued his education at Oklahoma State University. While attending OSU, he met the love of his life, Willa Dean Farmer, and they were married on September 16, 1954. He enlisted in the Air Force and served during the Korean War at Rantoul Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois and McChord Air Force base in Tacoma, Washington. After his term of service, he graduated from Oklahoma State University, and eventually received his degree in Meteorology. Lonnie taught high school at Drumright, OK, for 2 years before going to work for the National Weather Service in 1962. He continued his career as a noted and highly respected Meteorologist, coming to Monett as the Meteorologist in Charge of the Monett Radar Station in 1970. He finished his career in Springfield, MO, retiring in 1996. Nunn, age 70, who died yesterday morning, will be conducted at the Thornhill-Dillon chapel. The Rev. Thurman Kelley will officiate, and burial will be in IOOF cemetery at Monett. The body will lie in state at the chapel until the funeral hour. Mr. Nunn died at 3:30 at the home of a son, James M. Nunn following an illness of three months. He had lived in Joplin 12 years, having moved here from Monett. He was residing with his son at the time of his death. Surviving are another son, Thomas L.
