Research Note: Don was the son of the late Jacques "Jack" Delbert and Lottie Mae (Horner) McCallister. Don graduated from Aurora High School Class of 1954. He served in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and was honorably discharged in 1957. He co-owned Lee and Don's Service Station in Billings, MO for many years. Then, he went on to work at MWM Color Press in Aurora, retiring as press operator. Don attended Monett Community Church and was a member of the Masonic Lodge in Billings. He enjoyed fishing for crappie each year and always spending time farming. He loved spending time with his family. On Aug. 29, 1958, in Crane, MO, Don married Evelyn JoAnn Spain and they had sixty-four years of memories together. Survivors include his wife; two sons; four grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and three sisters. Don was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Tom McCallister and John W. Research Note: Not clear where he is buried but his first wife and parents are buried in IOOF. - Born in Monett, MO, to Amos A. and Eula M. (Henderson) McCormick, he and his two brothers and three sisters grew up on the family farm southeast of Monett. World War II U.S. Army service in the Philippines was followed by over 21 more years in the Army with assignments in Japan, Texas, California, Alaska, Kentucky, Germany, Taiwan and Missouri. He graduated from Monett High School and later in life from Park University (MO). After Army life, he served with the U.S. Department of Labor overseeing job training programs in the Central USA from Kansas City. Twenty-five years after his Army service ended he was recalled to active duty for several months to assist with activation of U.S. forces for the First Gulf War in 1991. In 1995 Monett became "home" again. Lee and his high school sweetheart Wanda Lou May married in December 1946 in Monett. Roger, Richard, Donald and Mary Kay were blessed to be their children and grow up in a loving Christian home. The sudden death of Wanda Lou and their infant son in the womb in 1963 in Taiwan shook them all but not their faith in God's love for them. Under Lee's mournful but steady hand, the remaining family moved to an Army assignment back in Missouri. In 1966 Lee and Geneva Mae Whisman Minor, widow of Dr. Harvey Minor were married. Lee was predeceased by his parents Amos and Eula, his wife of 16 years Wanda Lou and their unborn infant son, brother Albert and sisters Shirley Jane Mourglia, Mamie Lou Lane and Charlotte Ann Hunt, and daughter Mary Kay. Research Note: His death certificate reads that James McIntosh was his father and Elizabeth Bradwell was his mother. Otis McIntosh, Monett, MO, gave the information. His wife was Alice Louise Wallen. - Cassville Democrat, Dec. 22, 1954 - George Wesley McIntosh, 94, pioneer county resident and one of the county's first dairymen, died Wednesday afternoon at his home near Monett after a sickness of five months. He had been an invalid because of losing his eyesight following a case of influenza in 1910. Mr. McIntosh was born on February 12, 1860, in Pittsburgh, Pa., and came to Barry County with his parents to settle in the Gunter community at the age of 12 years. He lived here for a number of years and still owned the place at the time of his death. He was united in marriage to Miss Alice Louise Wallen in 1882 at the Waldensian Presbyterian Church to be one of the first to be performed in the church. She preceded him in death in 1937. He was an old member of the Kings Prairie Union Church, which is no longer in existence. Surviving are two sons, Otis McIntosh of the home and Homer McIntosh of the home: a daughter, Mrs. Maude Carlin, of Monett, and a sister, Mrs. Elizabeth McComas of Shell Brook, Saskatchewan, Canada and a grandchild and great-grandchild. Mr. McIntosh brought the first herd of registered Holsteins to the county in the 1890's to engage in the dairy business in a systematic way. He had a contract with the Fred Harvey System, operating eating houses on the Frisco, to supply them with milk and was there when the first Frisco train pulled into town. Funeral services were conducted at the Mercer Funeral Chapel in Monett, with Rev. L. N. Bartlesmyer officiating.
