Research Note: According to the cemetery log book J. S. Iden was buried in the Old Section, Block 38, Lot 3, Grave 4 on Sept. 19, 1925. According to the log of Callaway Funeral Home John S. Iden is buried in IOOF and died at age 78. The cause of his death was senility and he died in Rogers, AR on Sept.8, 1925 and the funeral was Sept. 19, 1925 at the Christian Church in Monett. His death certificate reads that he died Dec. 4, 1948 at the nursing home where he was a resident - and not Dec. 2, 1949 as his stone reads. It reads that his father was named Henry Isbell of Kentucky and that his mother was named Mary Elizabeth Townsend. He was a retired laborer. Mrs. Mollie Boedecker of Monett, MO, gave the information. Research Note: He was the son of the late Floyd Homer Isbell and Mary Ellen (Coatney) Isbell. Homer served his country honorably during World War II in the United States Army. He worked for many years as a Car Repairman for the Frisco and Burlington Northern Railroad, retiring in 1984. Homer was a member of the First Christian Church, Disciples of Christ, where he had served as a Deacon. He was also a 50 year member and Past Master of the Monett Masonic Lodge 129 A.F. and A.M. as well as he was a lifetime member of the V.F.W. Post 4207 and member of the Scottish Rite Valley of Joplin. Homer married Margaret Louise Johnson on December 25, 1937 in Monett. They were blessed with three children and almost 70 years of wonderful memories before her passing on July 8, 2006.
