Research Note: He was the son of Ray and Dimple Davis Fagan. He graduated in 1964 from Monett High School and attended Crowder College. He married his wife, Linda Cook, on January 21, 1967. He started his career in financial business and then moved back to the SW Missouri area in 1970 where he started working for Friend Tire in Monett, MO for the next 9 years. In 1979 thru 2008, he began developing, designing, and setting up operations of more than 38 convenience stores, car washes and truck stops in SW Missouri, NW Arkansas, NE Oklahoma and the Kansas City area. Throughout his career, he had many proud moments. He opened the very first self-service diesel station and the very first scanning system in a convenience store in the Midwest. He was also an insurance broker and surplus lines broker and developed the insurance forms and underwriting of group programs for car washes and convenience stores. He received commendation letters from the Red Cross, President George H. W. Bush and General Liede for his "Something special for someone special program" during the Gulf War in which military families received half price gasoline at the locations he owned. In 2008, he retired to NW Arkansas to enjoy his family, golfing, gambling, the Kansas City Chiefs and Kansas City Royals. The informant was Dr. L. H. Ferguson, Monett, MO. - Cassville Republican, Thursday, Oct. 17, 1918 - Mrs. Lillian May Ferguson, wife of Dr. L. H. Ferguson, died at 11:15 o'clock, Sunday morning, October 13, of pneumonia and complications. She had been ill since Wednesday. Funeral services were held at the residence, 811 Frisco avenue, Monday afternoon, conducted by Rev. W. A. Todd, pastor of the Baptist church. Interment was made in the Odd Fellows cemetery. Lillian Meador was born near Monett, May 14, 1885. She was married to Dr. L. H. Ferguson in October, 1907. She was the mother of four children, the first born, a girl having died. Two small sons and a daughter are living. She is also survived by her mother or Mrs. Eason Vermillion, of Purdy; four sisters, Mrs. E. W. Wallen, Mrs. Ellie Hudson, Mrs. Will Brite and Miss Myra Meador; and three brothers, Willis and Elmer Meador of Monett and Dan B. Meador, who is now in France. Death Certificate Number: 86 - Wheaton Journal, Jan. 10, 1952 - Monett Man Dies of Heart Attack: George Fly, 48 years old, Monett business man died of a heart attack about five o'clock Saturday afternoon. Mr. Fly, until about three months ago had been a salesman for the Junge Baking Company. He had been a salesman for the Joplin Concern for twenty-six years and was well acquainted with all the owners of grocery stores, cafes and confectioneries all over this part of the state. He had recently retired as a salesman and purchased a shoe store in Monett. Saturday afternoon he left his wife in the store and went to his home to change the oil in his automobile. After he left the store, his son, Dick, who is a salesman for the Junge Baking Company came to the shoe store and after his mother had told him that his father had gone home, he went to find him. He found his father beneath his car, where he had started to drain the oil from the machine, but he was dead. He summoned a physician and a neighbor and Mr. Fly was carried into the house. The physician said Mr. Fly had been dead about thirty minutes and attributed his death to a heart attack. Mr. Fly was born in Purdy, May 5, 1903, the son of the late John H. and Mrs. Minnie Moore Fly, who resides in Monett. He was married to Miss Ruth Mahony of Monett in 1923. In addition to his wife, son and mother, he is survived by a daughter, Mrs. Cleo Blankenship of Springfield, a brother, Jack Fly of Monett; and three sisters, Mrs. Ed Lane of Monett, Mrs. Jewel Young of Bell Calif., and Mrs. Maude Wagoner of Kansas City, Mo. Funeral services were held at 2 o'clock Tuesday afternoon at the First Christian Church in Monett, of which he was a member with Rev. Chester Werbin assisted by Rev. J. J. Stidman of Fulton, Mo., officiating. Research Note: He was the only child born to Hubert and Edith (Martin) Frost. Jack served his country honorably during World War II in the United States Navy. After graduating from high school, Jack furthered his education at Oklahoma Baptist University in Shawnee, OK, receiving his Bachelor's Degree in music. He carried that passion of music throughout his life, playing the piano, tuba and harmonica. Coming to Monett in 1982 with Friend Tire, Jack ran the company's print shop. He opened Jack Frost Printing about a year later, first at Bill Mitchell's shop. In 1985 he relocated to 319 E. Broadway. Jack closed the business in 2005 to retire. He worked with the Lions Club, served as President of the Kiwanis Club, served on the hospital advisory board, played tuba in the Ozark Festival Orchestra and organized performances of "Messiah" and "Elijah." He received the Chamber of Commerce's Community Service Award in 2007. The award nomination stated, "Though he retired in 2005, Jack Frost has been a good friend to the Monett community, a big help to creative people and promoters, a willing hand in civic organizations, a model businessman, and a valuable source of encouragement." He also was a former Choir Director of First Baptist Church in Monett and had sang with the barber shop quartet, known as Jack Frost and the Men of Note. Jack was also passionate about Aviation, flying his plane to many destinations over the years. On November 30, 1972, Jack married Martha "Marty" Deese. Research Note: Joyce was the only child of Gussie Juanita Tate and Frank Robert Means. She was born during a snowstorm; the doctor who came out to their farm had to spend the night awaiting the birth. She was proud to be a farmer's daughter! Joyce attended Monett high school, graduating with the class of 1951. On Nov. 15, 1952, Joyce was united in marriage to Milton Eugene Fulp of Aurora, upon his return from the Korean War. She was a long-time member of the First Christian Church of Aurora. Joyce's parents and husband have preceded her in death.
