Research Note: Sally Elizabeth Daugherty, 77, of Monett was called to her Heavenly home on Sunday April 3, 2022 after injuries sustained in an auto accident. She was the daughter of the late Cecil and Robbie (Weiss) Patton. She was united in marriage in 1979 in Miami, Oklahoma to Sherman Daugherty. She was preceded in death by her parents: Cecil and Robbie; two brothers: Larry and Robert Patton and two sisters: Jeannie McCaffrey and Shirley Roberson. - Two killed in wreck south of Monett - Vehicle crosses center line in head-on collision - Two women died on Sunday in a wreck at 12:22 p.m. on Highway 37, one mile south of Monett. According to a Missouri State Highway Patrol report, a 17-year-old female from Rogers, Ark., was driving a 2011 Nissan Sentra southbound when her vehicle crossed the center line and struck head-on a northbound 2008 Chevrolet Trailblazer, being driven by Sally Daugherty, 77, of Monett. The collision caused both vehicles to overturn. Research Note: William James "Bill" Daugherty, age 76, of Joplin, formerly of Monett, died November 29, 2001 at Freeman Hospital in Joplin, MO. He was born August 24, 1925, in St. Louis, and was a son of William Jacob and Evelyn J. (Follen) Daugherty. He had lived in Joplin since 1966, moving from Monett. He operated Daugherty Photography Studio in Monett for 13 years and worked in sales at Wal-Mart in Joplin from 1972 until retiring in 1988. He was a member and past president of the Monett Jaycees, and a member of Disabled American Veterans and Immanuel Lutheran Church. He was a Navy veteran of World War II and delivered meals on wheels for the Joplin Senior Citizens Center. Research Note: He was son of the late Reverend Carl A. Davidson and Vera (Burris) Davidson. Arthur was in an accident while working with cattle at the stockyards in June of 2005 that has led to his declining health. He graduated from Sarcoxie High School with the Class of 1958. He had served six months in active duty with the National Guard. Arthur loved horses and livestock. He was a lifelong self-employed "Cowboy". For many years, he owned Welch Stockyards and Davidson’s Quarter Horses. Arthur loved team roping, and he and his wife had opened their home numerous summers to kids that wanted to learn how to rope, ride and shoe horses.On July 14, 1962 in Pierce City, MO, Arthur married Mary Sue Brandt. Research Note: According to the City of Monett log book he is buried in the old section without a stone and with any dates, buried in block 28, section 1 and grave 6, near Sarah J. Davies. His death certificate reads that he was age 83 years, 7 months and 9 days old at the time of his death. He was a car inspector and married. John Davies born Wales was given as his father. Annie Martell, born Guernsey Isles his mother. The cause of death was given as samueloma? inguinal?, myocarditis. H. H. Davies, Monett, MO, was the informant. - History of Reno County, Kansas Volume II Bios Index, published 1917 - John Milton Davies was born on July 19, 1873, in Guernsey county, Ohio, the son of Hiram and Sarah (Slack) Davies, both of whom were natives of that county. Hiram Davies was a coal miner in Ohio, and moved to Sumner county, Kansas, in 1884, where he lived for one year. He then moved to Lawrence county, Missouri, and lived on a farm for some time, after which he removed to Monett, Missouri, and worked as a machinist in the 'Frisco railroad shops. Mr. Davies is still living at Monett. His wife, Sarah (Slack) Davies, died in 1907, at the age of sixty-six years. She was an earnest member of the Methodist Episcopal church, in which denomination Hiram Davies still takes an active interest. Hiram and Sarah (Slack) Davies were the parents of seven children. He retired from IMEC as a truck driver at the age of 92. On October 15, 1940 in Monett, Hoyt and Lucille Haddock were united in marriage. To this union, two children were born. Hoyt and Lucille were blessed with many wonderful years together until her passing in 2005.
