Research Note: Galena, Kan. ? Clyda M. Reed, 77, was found dead at 8:30 a.m. at her home, 920 Main St., after an illness. The death was investigated by Dr. Richard Chubb, coroner, who could not be contacted Saturday. She lived in Galena since 1928, moving from Carthage, MO. Daughter of John Henry Bennett and Maude Jane Hilton. She owned and operated the Galena Produce and later owned and operated the Reeds Cafe. She last worked at the Reeds Cafe in 1973. She was a member of the First Christian Church, Galena, the Ruth Rebekah Lodge No. 243 of Galena and the Veteran of Foreign Wars Auxiliary No. 6503. She was vice president of the Galena Senior Citizens and a member of the Professional Business Club of Galena, the Planning and Zoning Committee of Galena and the Local Housing Authority. She served as chairman for several years of the local American Red Cross chapter, was a home service officer and was active in the bloodmobile.
