John Lee Smithson Family




This family lived in Exeter on the corner of Commercial (Hwy 76) and Locust. John Smithson was the Section Foreman for the Friscoe Railroad. All of them are buried in Maplewood Cemetery in Exeter except Virgie and Eula. The two sons, Earl and Bert also lived in Exeter. Earl and his family lived next door to his parents, Bert and his family lived across the street. Back row (children): Ada Virginia "Virgie" Smithson (1889-1969) married LeRoy Packwood, Bert Houston Smithson (1884-1961) married Mary Ruby Benigar.

Middle Row (parents): Arminda "Minnie" (Black) Smithson(1860-1936) daughter of Docia and David Preston Black John Lee Smithson (1865-1954) son of Martha Matilda "Mattie" Horner and William Dugan Smithson.

Front Row (children): Earl Lee Smithson (grandfather of Jane Poore) (1886-1965) married Leland Jane Jordan in 1908, Eula Smithson (1891-1989) married Ralph Roseberry, Sr. and Ralph Meador.

There was another child, Lucille Smithson born in 1900. She married Dan S. Robinson.
